February 2, 2012 – Aronson LLC, a nationally ranked top 100 accounting and consulting firm located in Rockville, Md., has received the first annual Flu Fighter Award from Life Work Strategies, a member of Adventist HealthCare.

Aronson was recognized for their efforts to provide an opportunity at work for their employees and their families to be vaccinated in order to help stop the spread of flu in the workplace and in our community.

According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), every year influenza, or “flu,” affects employers and businesses. Flu costs businesses approximately $10.4 billion in direct costs for hospitalizations and outpatient visits for adults. In 2010, the CDC began recommending that everyone over six months of age get a flu vaccine as soon as it’s available to prevent these hospitalizations and death from the flu and pneumonia.

Aronson, along with the other winning employers, will be recognized at a breakfast event on February 9, 2012 at 9:00 am at the headquarters of Adventist Healthcare, Inc., located in Rockville, Md. As part of the program, Ellen Shannon PhD, RN, Medical Science Liaison at Sanofi Pasteur, will provide an update on influenza and prevention strategies.
